CHESTERFIELD TWP. (WWJ) -- A 42-year-old man has been charged with multiple felonies in the case of a woman found dead in Northern Macomb County over the weekend.

John Galvan of Chesterfield Township was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in 42-2 District Court.

Police said he is charged with one count of Reckless Driving Causing Death, one count of Manslaughter With A Motor Vehicle, one count of Failure To Stop At Scene Of Accident - When At Fault–Resulting In Death and one count of Operating – License Suspended, Revoked or Denied – Causing Death.

Each of these counts is punishable by up 15 years in prison.

The body of the victim, a 42-year-old Chesterfield Twp. resident, was discovered in the intersection of Hidden Brook and Burgess Lane, in the area of 24 Mile Rd. and I-94, early Sunday morning.

While investigators initially thought this was a tragic case of a pedestrian hit by a car, police said evidence at the scene and witness statements were not consistent with a traffic crash.

Later, police said doorbell camera video from the area showed the woman's body was dumped and left on the road, and that the victim's dead is believed to be a result of "a violent domestic relationship."

Galvan, who was arrested on Monday, remained held in the Macomb County Jail on a $500,000 awaiting his next hearing, set for Feb. 34.

Police said a second person arrested in this case was released without any charges filed.

The woman's name, and further details about what led to her death, have not yet been released.
